Baseball NSW wishes the Men’s NSW Country team, who are currently up in far North Queensland, the best of luck participating in the Cairns Tour for 2022.
The competition, known as the Great Barrier Reef tournament, will start tomorrow at 11:00 AM. Our NSW Country representative team will take on Cairns first up, followed by a double header on Friday, before heading into a weekend of finals games on Saturday and Sunday.
Over these 4 exciting days of Baseball, NSW Country take on the Far North Queensland teams from Townsville, Mackay and Cairns. Brendan Sheedy from BNSW Country Baseball has commented that the team “expect a high-quality standard of Baseball” from this tour, not only of the competing teams but also of themselves.
The team is comprised of 19 players, 5 coaches and 2 support staff this year. The tour, which started in 2016 and ran again in 2018, really emphasises the NSW versus QLD rivalry. Sheedy expects this will be a really good opportunity for some of the players, especially those younger players who have been unable to play this level of representative baseball throughout COVID, to step up and play some great baseball that showcases NSW talent.
