Congratulations to our NSW Country team who took part in the Great Barrier Reef Tournament between the 16th-19th of June, going undefeated throughout the whole competition.
The team took on Cairns on their first day, followed by both Townsville teams on Friday for their double header. These 3 wins set them up for their semi-final game on Saturday, where they defeated Townsville 2 to secure a spot in the grand final match. They were then successful again on the Sunday defeating Cairns for the gold medal 10-4.
We hope the NSW Country team had an enjoyable time in the far north of Queensland and once again congratulate their efforts over the 4 days they spent playing baseball.
As a pathway for many emerging country players, the tournament was set to be an international tour opportunity in 2020 before the COVID-19 disruption swept across the globe. Here’s to hoping that from this year forward, NSW Country can return to its initial plans for the tour and get the chance to travel again!
