Thank you to all the players who expressed interest and attended trials for the Barclay Cup. Due to the great response to the event, Baseball NSW is able to send two teams to this year’s first-ever Barclay Cup.
Baseball NSW will join fellow states, Queensland, Victoria, ACT, South Australia, and Western Australia in the inaugural “Barclay Cup”. The tournament is for female players between the ages of 13 and 16. This year, the Gold Coast will host the first event at Surfers Paradise Baseball Club, from the 25th of September to the 1st of October.
The tournament is named in honour of Jacinda Barclay, who had a major impact on Women’s Baseball in Australia. Jacinda was a National representative Baseball player, playing professionally in three different sports over her career. As a pioneer in women’s sports, this event is aptly named to recognise the impression she has left.
Thank you to our coaching staff, Laura Neads, Grant Hooper, Claire O’Sullivan and Peter Neads, who will be the driving force behind our first inaugural Barclay Cup campaign.
Additionally, BNSW is seeking any parents who wish to act as Executive Officers for this event. Should anyone be interested in the role, please contact Grahame Cassel to express interest.
