Congratulations to the players who have been selected in the two teams which will represent NSW at the 2023 Barclay Cup!
This year, the teams have been named in remembrance of Jacinda Barclay, a female athlete who had a major contribution to Women’s Baseball and overall Women’s sport in Australia. Jacinda was an Australian representative Baseball player and played professionally in three different sports over her career. Barclay was also a pioneer for equal rights in women’s sports and hosting an event in her name for junior female athletes highlights the impact she had on many during her life.
The Sky Cinda Spirit and Navy Barky Ball-hers will travel to Perth to compete in the second iteration of the tournament from the 1st – 7th of October, hosted by Baseball Western Australia!
Baseball NSW is also very excited to announce an entirely female coaching staff. We are extremely privileged to have a roster of experienced female coaches, with four of our coaches having represented the Australian Emeralds at multiple Women’s World Cups. These ladies will provide a wealth of knowledge to our junior female players coming through this pathway. Thank you to Laura Neads, Katie Gaynor, Amy Saliba, Claire O’Sullivan, Mackenzie Jackson and Tahnee Lovering for their commitment to these teams.
Best of luck to the ladies at the Barclay Cup and time to put in the preparation work ahead of the event!
