Australian Sports Commission Women’s Mentor Pilot Program

Applications are now open for the Women’s Mentor Pilot Program in Sydney!

In this 10-week program led by the Australian Sports Commission, coaches will learn how to mentor women and girls into coaching roles, whilst also exploring how to drive gender equity and great sport experiences for women, girls and diverse groups.

Open to all community coaches who identify as women, this program is about enabling, empowering and supporting women mentors, with the tools to influence positive change and navigate change management in their club or organisation.

About the Women’s Mentor Pilot Program

In this program, women coaches will learn how to:

  • Use developmental coaching tools to mentor women and girls into coaching roles
  • Develop their awareness of thinking patterns and how they impact behaviour, perspective taking and development
  • Manage change and positively influence their environments to drive gender equity
  • Design inclusive environments and engage with diverse communities through a person-centred approach
  • Create optimal sport environments for women and girls to participate in sport.

What is the commitment for coaches?

The pilot program includes both in-person and virtual workshops. Coaches are required to attend all sessions:

  • Attend 3x in-person workshop sessions (each workshop is 2 days in length, 9am to 5pm)
  • Attend 3x virtual check-in sessions (1 hour in length)
  • Start putting the learning into practice within their club or organisation and mentor women and girls into coaching roles.

As a pilot program, all coaches will be asked to engage with the program evaluation team to share their experience, opinion and feedback on the program.
