NSW Secure Two Top Four Spots at Barclay Cup 2023

Congratulations to both NSW teams who represented at the 2023 Barclay Cup in Perth!

The second edition of the Barclay Cup, hosted by Baseball Western Australia, was a huge success and continues to showcase great junior women’s baseball. Thank you to all the players and coaching staff who attended this prestigious tournament in Perth last week!

A huge effort from both the NSW teams – with the Sky Cindy Spirit taking 3rd place by defeating the Navy Barky Ball-hers in the bronze medal match! These two teams should be extremely proud of their efforts, finishing in the top four overall.

These teams were lead by a powerhouse all female coaching staff of Laura Neads, Katie Gaynor and Amy Saliba (Sky Cindy Spirit) and Claire O’Sullivan, Tahnee Lovering and Mackenzie Jackson (Navy Barky Ball-hers).

Following their win against their opposing state side, NSW Sky Coach Laura Neads says as a team they “spoke a lot this week about Bark’s [Jacinda Barclay’s] attitude and the way she was as a player and as a person, and I think the girls really took a lot of that on…. seeing that confidence grow throughout the week and getting in that high spirit, I’m really proud”.

Baseball NSW is extremely proud to be able to send two full teams, once again, to this junior women’s event and strive to continue developing the youth pathways for Women’s Baseball.

Thank you to all those who continue supporting these players, we couldn’t do it without the help of the coaching staff and the parents and guardians involved.
