Team Australia to Finalise U18 Roster at Selection Camp

Team Australia is looking to finalize its roster for the U18 World Cup through a Selection Camp on the Gold Coast.

At this camp, team coaches will fill the U18 squad’s 20-man roster out of a pool of 33 athletes, which began on the 17th August and will conclude on the 23rd.

This camp also comes after a two-day coaches conference at Crowne Plaza involving 50 coaches from across Australia. Baseball NSW High Performance Staff, Grahame Cassel and Nathan Howarth were in attendance, alongside coaches such as Jack Dormor, James Sammes, Amy Saliba, Jason Picot, Rowan Street, Ian Hook, Peter Gahan and Jason Bromley.

The 33 players named for the selection camp are among the best of the best in Australian baseball, and they will be working out at Surfers Paradise Baseball Club and staying at the Crowne Plaza for all of this week.

They will participate in a series of workouts, evaluations, and exhibition games. Of the 33 players, 23 are in their second year of eligibility and ten are in their first.

Ten of the players will also hail from NSW and Country NSW.

Once the roster is finalized, the team will fly to Okinawa, Japan on 31 August for another three-day training camp before the tournament begins in earnest.

NSW’s own Jason Pospishil will manage the squad. Check out the list of players below!

Baseball NSW wishes the best of luck to our players attending this selection camp, and we are excited to watch Team Australia in the upcoming World Cup!
