Sydney Cup 2024 successfully concludes!

Baseball New South Wales wish to thank you to everyone for helping make the 2024 Sydney Cup a resounding success!

From the first pitch in September to the final outs on December 8th, this tournament was a celebration of everything that makes the NSW baseball community special. It’s a collaborative effort that begins as soon as the previous years tournament concludes.

We took some major strides this year both on molding this tournament to reflect the aspirations of the associations, as well as attempting to create opportunities and pathways for people to get involved in the sport.

We were happy to see the utilization of the Development Coaching Role from a few associations, as well as the success of the inaugural Gaynor Cup, allowing young girls the opportunity to play representative baseball in a supportive and competitive environment. It’s a tremendous starting point for a section of the game that is growing everyday here in New South Wales and Australia.

We are excited to see a large percentage of our Gaynor Cup participants, both players and coaches, back in action at the end of January in the inaugural NSW Little League Girls State Championships!

The collective effort of the associations’ patience, and dedication created a positive and healthy environment for all participants. Together, you have helped make baseball stronger and contributed to its growth in Sydney.

A big thank you to CSJBA, Eastern Suburbs, East Hills, and MWDBA for putting their hands up to host Sydney Cup Semi-Finals and Sydney Cup Finals. It’s a difficult job to get fields ready, especially when the weather decides to act up the way it did on Finals weekend, and without the volunteers at those associations and clubs, we would not have been able to get the games in.

A special congratulations to our championship-winning teams:

  • U12 Sydney Cup: Manly
  • U14 Sydney Cup: Hills
  • U16 Sydney Cup: Ryde Grey
  • U12 Association Cup: Manly Maroon
  • U14 Association Cup: Hills
  • U13 Gaynor Cup: Hills

We are grateful to everyone who played a role in this journey, coaches, parents, supporters, players, umpires, club volunteers, and everyone in between. Whether you were on the field, in the dugout, cheering from the stands, or working tirelessly behind the scenes, your contributions made this tournament memorable and impactful.

A special shoutout to Andrew Clements with the NSWBUA, whose efforts behind the scenes ensured the tournament ran smoothly and allowed kids to get out on the field and enjoy the game. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we thank you deeply for everything you have done and continue to do for baseball in New South Wales.

Thank you all for your passion and commitment. We look forward to seeing you soon after the Holiday period as we roll into the 2025 NSW State Championships.
