Travis Bazzana Named 2026 MLB All-Star

Baseball NSW congratulates our very own Travis Bazzana for earning a spot at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game! Bazzana was selected to the American League roster after balloting among players.

He was named to the All-Star Game on 4 July.

This selection makes Bazzana only the third Australian to be named an MLB All-Star, joining Aussie legends Grant Balfour, Liam Hendriks, and Dave Nilsson.

Hendriks earned three All-Star selections in his career, while Nilsson was selected once.

The Guardians infielder will represent Cleveland as a player-elected reserve, and he will play in the ‘Mid-Summer Classic’ on 14 July at the Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

This year, Bazzana is joined by fellow Australian Baseball League (ABL) players Cristopher Sanchez (Philadelphia Phillies) and Junior Caminero (Tampa Bay Rays) on the team. Both Sanchez and Caminero played for the Perth Heat in the ABL.

In less than three months after his Guardians debut on 28 April, Travis has already enjoyed a meteoric rise in the MLB.

He slashed .255/.347/.420 with 12 doubles, seven homers, and 27 RBIs across 57 games, cementing his spot at the top of the Guardians’ lineup. As the leadoff hitter, Bazzana has already started 30 games.

His MLB call-up also contributed to the Guardians’ mid-season turnaround, having climbed back up to postseason contention soon after his promotion to the majors. Currently, the Guardians are second in the AL Central with a record of 47-44, only behind the Chicago White Sox at 47-42. Both teams also hold the only winning records in the division.

As a member of the Guardians, Travis also became only the fourth rookie in team history to make an All-Star team.

The former No.1 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft has more than proven his worth in the majors, and this selection to the All-Star Game might only be the beginning of a tremendous MLB career.

Congratulations Travis! We hope for your continued success in the Major Leagues, and may your success inspire more baseballers in our community to keep striving to achieve their dreams.
