Baseball NSW congratulates Blacktown Workers 2nd Grade for winning the 2025 NSW State League championship over Baulkham Hills on Sunday, 30 March.
The Workers found their hero in Thomas Jackson, who went 3-4 at bat, hitting a single in the second, third, and seventh inning.
Deep in the second, a single to right field from Darcy Williams and a grounder into a fielder’s choice from Lochlan Oliver opened up the scoring for Blacktown with two runs.
However, Baulkham Hills came back to tie the game early in the third after a double from Chris Ings and a single from Matthew Courtney.
Still, Blacktown’s bats were working throughout the game, collecting 15 hits, which helped them take the lead deep in the third thanks to a single from Jackson that led to a scored run. Another single from Nathan Skinner extended the lead to 4-2.
Along with Skinner and Jackson, Mitchell Tritton also made three hits for Blacktown, while Daniel Lakeman and Williams also had multiple hits. The team was also on point along the base paths, with Tritton stealing two bases, adding up to five overall for Blacktown. Meanwhile, the Workers also turned one double play.
On the other hand, the Baulkham Hills pitching staff struggled against their opponents’ hitters. Starting pitcher Damien Wilson surrendered six hits and four runs across three innings. He also struck out one and walked three.
