Josh Guyer’s shutout game helped keep the Blacktown Workers 1st Grade stay alive after winning Game 2 of their best of three 2025 NSW State League Grand Final series.
On Sunday, 30 March, the Workers walked away with a 1-0 victory as Guyer pitched a complete game shutout. However, both teams’ pitching staff were excellent on the mound, as Baulkham struck out nine while Blacktown sat out six.
Blacktown managed to score a run in the fifth after a ground out from Jaeden Cavill, who also went 1-4 for the day, and their bats turned in ten hits throughout the game. Jordan Martin, Joshua Strong, and Nicholas Anderson-Vine each had two hits for the Workers, while Cavill had one run batted in.
Likewise, Anderson-Vine stole two bases, and Blacktown turned one double play.
Baulkham Hills starting pitcher Alexander Wells gave up nine hits and a run while throwing for seven and one-third innings. He ended up striking out six and walking one.
Luke Clapson and Zac Shepherd also showed up for Baulkham Hills, making one hit each. Baulkham also turned one double play and did not commit an error.
The deciding Game 3 between Blacktown and Baulkham Hills will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 April 2025, at the Blacktown International Sports Park. Both the canteen and bar will also be open.
