Baseball NSW congratulates the Blacktown Workers 1st Grade for winning the Grand Final of the 2025 Women’s League on Tuesday, 1 April 2025.
Ticara Geldenhuis’ positively sizzling bat helped the Blacktown Workers win the title with a score of 7-1. The Workers dominated the Ryde Hawks, thanks partly to Geldenhuis’ hitting a double in the third and the fourth, then a triple in the sixth.
Matize Kennedy hit a single in the second, scoring a run to put the Workers on the board. In the bottom of the third, Geldenhuis hit a double to the left field line, leading to a scored run. The Hawks then walked Maddison McGuire to score another one.
Blacktown starting pitcher Mackenzie Jackson gave up three hits and one run across six innings, and she struck out eight and walked one. Meanwhile, Ryde starting pitcher Isobel Lambert threw for two innings, allowing three hits and three runs, striking out one and walking four. Relief pitcher for Blacktown Ebony van Eynde gave up zero runs in her one inning, striking out two and walking one.
Likewise, Blacktown showed a strong eye at the batter’s plate. Angelique Iredale had two hits in her four at bats, while Van Eynde had three walks, leading the team. Overall, Blacktown had seven walks. Besides her hitting, Geldenhuis also stole multiple bases, so did McGuire, leading up to an overall count of nine stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Ryde infielder Ayano Kazuta had a run batted in, leading the team, and she also went 1-3 for the day. Besides Kazuta, Lambert and Jessica Mitchell also had one hit each for Ryde. The team also turned a double play and did not commit a single error.
