Blacktown 1st Clinch State League Championship with Shutout of Baulkham Hills

Baseball NSW congratulates Blacktown Workers 1st Grade for winning the State League title in the deciding Game 3 of their series against Baulkham Hills.

Four Blacktown pitchers combined to throw a shutout against Baulkham Hills to win Game 3 with a score of 2-0. Tom Stancic, Kyle Glogoski, Matthew Rae, and Todd Grattan threw for Blacktown in the first, shutting down Baulkham Hills throughout the game.

Baulkham’s pitching staff kept up with their opponent on the mound, though, striking out 12, whereas Blacktown struck out 13.

It took until the bottom of the sixth inning for Blacktown to get on the board as Mitchell Austin singled to center field to score their first run and Josh Guyer scored another run on a ground out.

Blacktown starting pitcher Rae surrendered two hits and walked three, while his counterpart on Baulkham Hills Coen Wynne gave up five hits and two runs throwing for over seven and one-third innings. He also struck out 11 and walked none.

Besides Austin and Guyer, Joshua Pearl also went 2-4 at bat for Blacktown while Jordan Martin made 13 plays, leading the team.
