The Doosan Bears will be making Blacktown International Sports Park the home of their spring training from the 19th January to 19th February in 2026!
The Doosan Bears are one of the powerhouse clubs of the Korean Professional league, the KBO, with a rich history dating back to 1982. Throughout the years, the Seoul-based club has also won six Korean Series championships (1982, 1995, 2001, 2015, 2016, 2019).
This coming January, the squad joins us in Sydney under the new leadership of Kim Won-hyung. The former pitching coach for the Korean National team, he debuted as a pitcher in 1991 with the now-disbanded Ssangbangwool Raiders after playing for Jeonju Dong Middle School and Jeonju High School. Kim’s professional career spanned 21 years and following that, Kim began coaching professionally.
“The Bears have always been a team that puts pressure on opponents with dynamic, high-energy play. I will work to restore that ‘Hustle Bears’ identity and bring meaningful baseball to our fans,” Kim said in his interview with Korea JoongAng Daily.
Baseball NSW’s facilitation of the Doosan Bears Spring Training signifies the strengthening of the relationship between the Asia Pacific baseball organisations.
Fans are welcome to watch the Bears during their training sessions. We encourage baseball fans to come to the park and see how world-class professional teams prepare for the KBO season through high-intensity training sessions.
However, we also remind fans to be respectful during practice sessions. Please do not disturb the team during their training on the field. You can find the training schedule via the button below.
