Far North Coast Baseball Association welcomed back the Timberjacks tournament with open arms this month!
The Timberjacks tournament is a pinnacle event of the FNC Calendar, and it is great to welcome the tournament back after multiple years of disruptions.
This year, 23 teams participated across all four grades – U20’s, U16’s, U14’s and U12’s – and took to the diamonds for a weekend of great competition. The New South Wales teams that entered the tournament hailed from the Far North Coast, Newcastle, Tamworth & a Nova team. Local FNC delegates were excited to see the continued improvement of the Tamworth Association and impressive dedication from the Newcastle teams who travelled all the way up for the event.
The location of the tournament allows for plenty of cross state rivalry! With the continued support from both QLD and NSW teams, Timberjacks saw seven baseball communities across both states come together in the name of development and the enjoyment of baseball. There was also a huge effort from Brisbane South, who fielded six teams in total across the divisions.
Some extra highlights of the tournament included the Masters exhibition game, which was played under Friday night lights, following Banana Ball rules!
We also saw some female players in the U20’s division return, who had played in the original Nova’s team that participated 5 years ago!
Overall, the continued growth of FNC baseball is extremely promising and Baseball NSW, alongside the NSW Country Baseball Association, is honoured to be able to assist the club in their endeavours! Looking forward to Timberjacks again next year.
Congratulations to the following Champions in each division: Far North Coast (U20’s); Brisbane Metro (U16’s) Gold Coast Black (U14’s) and Brisbane Metro (U12’s)
