Baseball5™ or B5 is an urban version of the classic games of baseball and softball. It is a fast, young and dynamic discipline that follows the same founding principles of its parent disciplines - hitting, throwing, catching, and running. B5 is the perfect school sport as it promotes inclusion for boys and girls, which will help boost overall participation and physical activity. Most importantly, it is fun and enjoyable at all levels. To get B5 into your school, click on the link below and complete the steps required. How-to guide for schools With several Baseball5 resources including videos, training manuals, and the WBSC rulebook readily available to download, head over to our B5 webpage For all the latest B5 news, action around the world, and upcoming events in Sydney check out our B5 Facebook page We caught up with the Head of Baseball5, Adrian Medina Scull, who gave us some insight into B5 and the benefits of playing the game in schools. “The 4 corners (baseball5) is a form of street baseball that is played in most streets of Havana. The best way to develop the game is by playing and practicing constantly. I started playing more frequently in the fourth grade. I used to play with my neighbours before school, during every school break, and after my track and field practice. At the National High-Performance school, I also used to play constantly. 4 corners (B5) was the most popular pastime for the athletes after/before training and the least expensive. With the muscular and athletic body development of the high-performance school program, the game became much faster, more dynamic, and aggressive (charismatic). The players involved were those who are nowadays Olympic, World and Continental champions of various sports, including baseball players. The mischief/quick thinking/streetwise knowledge of 4 corners (B5) enhanced my adaptation to fielding and quick reactions in traditional baseball. Even batting and hitting the ball with the hands have remarkable similarities”. Any queries relating to Baseball5, please contact Adrian Medina Scull via email by clicking here. Comments are closed.
